It is a modified version of a the <a href="http://www.oswd.org/design/preview/id/3465" target="_blank">CrystalX design from</a> open source web designs. I broke it up and made it fit for Drupal. Then I added a bunch of changes and tweaks that fit with my style and what I wanted for this site. A search floater is the search box you see up in the upper right corner of this website. By default if you enable the Search block in Drupal you can add it to a region. For example it could be added to the left content bar. However, I don't like this very much since it takes up a bunch of room.
