I recently launched another site with my wife. She is a graphic designer and can you know make stuff actually look nice. Along with this she has done a ton of Do It Yourself (DIY) craft projects. Everything from quilts to simple fun things like homemade Play-do with our toddler. For a while now I've been trying to convince her to start a site where she would post all these craft tutorials and she has finally gotten around to doing it.
Unlike most of my other Drupal sites I've done - this one has a fully customized theme. Being that she is a Graphic Designer (and unlike me has a sense of what looks good) we were able to create a pretty compelling looking site with out too much effort. She already has several crafting posts up and I'm excited to see where it all ends up going in the long run.
Along with the "standard" stuff I wrote a custom module for this site that shows her latest 6 Pinterest pins as thumbnails in a block on the right of the screen. She "Pins" stuff all the time - so this was a simple way to get that information on her main crafting page.
Whether you are interested in the programming side of it or more in the actual craft projects, feel free to head over to One Crafty Home. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Or if you have any questions on how we got the site doing what its doing feel free to post them below as well.
Recently my site was lost. I have been able to re-create the content but unfortunately I will need to re-upload any pictures that are in my tutorials. Please feel free to still use the tutorials and I will upload the pictures soon. Sorry for any incoveniance.
